What happens when the first year of hosting is complete?
When you register for your first year of hosting with pair Networks, you will need to provide your credit card information. The first 12 months are included with the cost of the workshop. Starting in month 13, you will be billed for your hosting at a monthly basis at the regular monthly rate (currently $15/mo.).
You may cancel your hosting account at any time. If you choose to cancel, you still own all of the files related to your website and may transfer them to another web hosting company.
What happens when the class is over?
Within 30 days of the completion of the class, you can schedule a follow-up, one-hour, one-on-one meeting with us in order to work on any outstanding issues on your site. This hour long consultation can involve answering questions or helping with website customizations.
What happens during the workshop?
We will start at the very beginning. First, we will review WordPress and learn the basics of navigating the software. Then, we will begin creating your site. Over the course of the two-day workshop, you will learn about building out your WordPress homepage, all your secondary pages, managing links and images, how to blog and update your site, and how to backup and keep your site secure.
How many students will be in each workshop?
In order to be able to answer everyone’s questions and ensure everyone has time for one-on-one questions, the workshops are limited to 6 participants.
What if I don’t want to create my own website content?
If you do not have the time or desire to create your own content, we can suggest a few content writers that you may wish to work with. The fees for content writing will be in addition to the cost of the workshop, and they will be negotiated directly between you and the content writer.
What do I need to bring to the class?
- You will need to bring a WiFi-enabled laptop with an internet browser (tablets will not work)
- Power cord
- Access to your email account
- Your website content (the text for your website, already typed, along with any images you wish to use)
What will my website look like?
Building a WordPress website involves selecting a theme. The theme controls what your website will look like. Because the workshop will be taught in a group setting, participants will all select from the same group of themes. This makes group instruction easier. Don’t worry! Your websites will not all look the same. All of the themes allow for many customization options so you can reflect the personality of your business or nonprofit organization. We will discuss theme options during your one-on-one consultation.
What happens in the one-on-one marketing consultation?
When you sign up for the workshop, you will receive a questionnaire to help guide you through the marketing consultation. Take some time to think about the answers as they relate to your business goals. You will also receive a calendar link to schedule your one-on-one consultation.
During the consultation, we will discuss the answers on your questionnaire and begin to plan out your website. Together we will create a list of all of the pages and types of content you will need for your site. We will discuss how you want your site to look and the kinds of colors and images that you may want to use.
After our consultation, but before the in-person workshop, you will need to complete as much of your website copy (text) as you can. You will bring the text, along with any relevant photos or graphics, to the workshop.
